Cell Towers, 5G Small Cells and What They Mean for Your Property
Macro towers and street-level small cells behave completely differently. Distance alone is a poor predictor — line of sight is what usually determines your reading.
Macro towers versus small cells
A macro tower a quarter mile away with clear line of sight to your bedroom window can produce a higher reading than a small cell on the pole outside, because small-cell antennas are typically low-power and downtilted toward the street.
Why we measure directionally
A broadband meter gives you one number. A directional antenna with peak-hold tells you which window the energy comes through, which bearing it originates from, and therefore which single treatment — a window film, a curtain, or simply moving the bed — will actually change your exposure.
What remediation usually looks like
