Recurring Radiation Monitoring Programs for Florida Facilities
A single screening visit tells you about one day. Facilities taking in material continuously need a cadence, a written record that accumulates, and someone whose job it is to keep showing up. That is what a monitoring contract is: a calibrated instrument and a documented procedure on your site on a schedule, with a dated log that builds into a history.

Who runs a monitoring program
Scrap yards and recyclers
Highest intake and highest orphaned-source exposure, so these run on the heavier schedule: $495 per month for weekly spot-check visits or $1295 per quarter for a scheduled audit.
Stone yards and fabricators
Inbound slab and tile lots screened on arrival plus periodic inventory sweeps, at $395 per month or $1095 per quarter. Yards resell the screening to their own customers as a documented value-add.
Warehouses, storage and auction facilities
Unit cleanouts, repossessed inventory and long-stored equipment screened on a set cadence, $395 per month. Facilities running regular auction days schedule visits around them.
Salvage yards and transfer stations
Intake areas, staging bays and crush piles surveyed against your own mapped yard background so an anomaly is visible against your ground rather than a textbook figure.
What every contract includes
Scheduled visits at an agreed cadence, a mapped background reference for your site that is re-checked over time, survey of inbound and staged material, and a dated written log for every single visit recording what was surveyed, what it read, and what if anything was flagged with photographs and location.
Where something reads high we stop, isolate, document and hand you a clear written account for escalation to the appropriate authorities and your own radiation safety advisors. We do not handle, transport or dispose of sources.
Pricing and terms
Monthly programs run $395 for lower-throughput sites and $495 for scrap and recycling operations, with quarterly equivalents at $1095 and $1295. Travel inside our standard zones is included in the contract rate, so a Jacksonville or Miami site pays the same monthly figure as a Tampa one.
Multi-site operators are quoted a combined rate. Contracts are month to month after the first quarter — if the program is not earning its keep, you should be able to stop it.
What you receive
A dated written log for every visit — areas and loads surveyed, background reference, all readings, anything flagged with photographs and location, and the instrument calibration date — accumulating into a documented monitoring history for the facility. From $395 per month.
Common questions
How much does a radiation monitoring contract cost?
$395 per month or $1095 per quarter for stone yards, warehouses and storage facilities, and $495 per month or $1295 per quarter for scrap yards and recyclers. Travel within our standard zones is included.
How often do you visit under a monthly contract?
Weekly spot-check visits on the scrap and recycling program, and a set monthly or fortnightly cadence for lower-throughput sites agreed in the proposal. The schedule is written into the contract so it is not left to chance.
Does a monitoring contract satisfy a regulatory requirement?
No. This is an independent, informational screening program and is not represented as satisfying any agency's statutory monitoring obligation. Facilities with regulatory duties should confirm those with their own radiation safety advisors.
Can I start with a single visit before committing?
Yes. Most facilities begin with one screening visit and a written baseline of the site, then decide on a cadence once they have seen what the survey actually produces.
How it works
Three steps, no surprises
Book a consultation
Tell us the property, the item, or the facility and what prompted the call. We confirm scope, price and the travel zone in writing before anything is scheduled.
On-site survey with our calibrated instrument
We survey with the Radiation Alert Ranger, taking a local background reference first, then working the area to a fixed pattern so nothing is sampled by chance.
Receive your written report
A written report with the hot-spot map, every recorded reading against your own site background, photographs, and the instrument calibration date. Typically within 48 hours.
Methodology
How we survey — the actual method
Background reference first
Before anything else we record ambient background at the property line. Every later reading is reported against that number, because a reading only means something relative to local background.
Fixed-pattern coverage, not spot checks
Interior areas are walked room by room at a steady pace with the probe held at a consistent height. Yards and lots are walked on a grid — roughly 15-foot lanes on a typical residential lot, tightened where the meter responds.
Hot-spot confirmation
Anywhere the count rate rises above the site background, we stop, tighten the search, and take timed readings at the peak. A location is only recorded as a hot spot after it repeats on a second pass.
Priority zones get extra time
Bedrooms, children's play areas, garden beds, home offices and any spot where someone spends hours at a time are surveyed more densely than pass-through space.
Everything is documented
Each recorded reading is logged with its location, the value, the time, and the instrument calibration date, then plotted onto a floor plan and lot sketch in the report.
Who performs the survey and how we work
Surveys are performed by the owner-operator of EMF Testing Services, trained in survey-meter operation and in the survey procedure described on this page, working to the same written methodology on every job.
We hold no regulatory role and claim no agency standing. What we provide is a documented instrument reading set: where the meter was placed, what it read, when the instrument was last calibrated, and how those readings compare to the background level measured at your own property on the same day.
Our radiation surveys are independent, informational measurements performed for personal due diligence. They are not represented as satisfying, replacing or substituting for any specific government agency's statutory testing, survey or disclosure requirement, and they are not a medical or health assessment.
