A tower half a mile away can read higher indoors than one across the street depending on antenna direction, elevation and building materials — and the biggest readings we find are usually inside the home: wiring errors, smart meters, dimmers and routers. The scanner draws high-voltage transmission routes and substations around the point you search, with distance to the nearest one. Neighborhood distribution poles are usually not mapped in public data, and they can still matter, so a measured survey is the only way to know the magnetic field level at the bedroom wall.
