What dirty electricity actually is
Your wiring is designed to carry a clean 60 Hz sine wave. Switching power supplies, dimmers, LED drivers, variable-speed pool pumps and solar inverters chop that waveform, producing transients in the 2 kHz to 100 kHz range that travel throughout the branch circuits.
Why Florida homes see more of it
Rooftop solar is common, pool pumps run for hours daily, and whole-home LED retrofits are near universal. Each of those is a legitimate efficiency upgrade — and each one is a potential noise source measured at the outlet.
Isolating the source before buying filters
We measure each circuit with the suspected device on and off. Frequently a single dimmer or one inverter accounts for most of the reading, and swapping that one component is cheaper and more effective than installing a dozen plug-in filters.
